Mad Muse Studios

An Overview

Mad Muse Studios is a professional Los Angeles recording facility with an open tracking space and killer vibe. The music studio features a vintage SSL 8064 G+ console, alongside a plethora of the world’s best outboard gear, microphones, and instruments.

Our LA Fashion District location is two blocks from the 10 freeway and easily accessible from Hollywood, Burbank, and Santa Monica.

We pride ourselves in creating a space where musicians can separate themselves from the world, and create.

The Tracking Space

The jewel of the studio is it’s EPIC tracking space! With an expansive open floor plan and fifteen-foot ceilings, as well as ease of access in & out of the studio, large setups are a breeze. Great care was taken to have the acoustic properties of our live room just right, giving engineers a smooth full sound, free of any phase laden reflective build-up, with just the right amount of ambiance.

The Console

Our Solid State Logic 8064 G+ console started life as a very large 100 channel G+ at Record One in 1993. While the console’s early years included Michael Jackson hits, her legacy was set in stone during the ten prolific years (1997 – 2007) Dr. Dre locked out the studio and had the console all to himself.

We have painstakingly refurbished the console, and after almost 3 decades, it’s sound has proven to be one of a kind. The power supply has been upgraded to the Atomic S2, and with the addition of the THD Tangerine automation system, you can now control the Solid State Logic Ultimation via Pro Tools.

The Microphones

Our microphone closet is busting at the seams. All the hits from AKG, Neumann, Telefunken, Sony, AEA, Coles, and Royer are here alongside workhorses from Shure, Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, and Electro-Voice.

The Instruments

The outstanding collection of well-kept drums, guitars, amplifiers, and synthesizers located on-site are sure to make any musician smile. You will find vintage and boutique examples of Gibson, Fender, Rickenbacker, Martin, Guild, Spector, Silvertone, Ampeg, Diezel, Marshall, Supro, Gretsch, Ludwig, Paiste, Zildjian, and on and on.

Clients have a hard time staying away from our Yamaha C7 grand piano. With the piano’s glossy white finish, it’s hard not to stare. The Yamaha C7 was voiced by listening in the room as well as through microphones to assure a beautifully balanced tone for your recordings.
